From textile waste to a new resource
The European Week for Waste Reduction EWWR is an awareness-raising initiative on waste reduction.
The theme chosen for the 2022 edition is " Circular and sustainable textiles: waste is out of fashion ".
Lagraste Concept Store was born to carry forward the values of the circular economy and attention to consumption. We are not simply product resellers, but above all informants: it is the belief that for a real change and resolution of environmental problems, consumer choice has an important and decisive role.
The wool or cashmere delivery service is already active in the Store for the purpose of recovering and regenerating textile fibers: you can find one of the Rifò boxes where you can leave your old clothes so that they can become a new resource.
We are one of the physical collection points for the regeneration of Rifò wool and cashmere garments , an Italian company that is an example of circular economy, which produces high-quality garments and accessories, made with regenerated and regenerable textile fibers, transforming old garments into a new yarn.
We have therefore decided to join the EWWR campaign with the action " From textile waste to a new resource ": during the week from 19 to 27 November 2022, it will thus be possible to confer not only old wool or cashmere sweaters (minimum composition 95% wool or cashmere), also cotton sweaters or old jeans (composed of 95% cotton), which will be sent to the Prato consortium, where they will be recovered and regenerated to give birth to new yarns.
Furthermore, it will be possible to give old towels, beach towels, blankets, which will then be donated to local artisans who will reuse them to create new clothes and accessories.
Another significant example of resource recovery, such as that of the Upcycling Capsule Collection by GeGè , an Apulian artisan, who has the ability to transform things with inventiveness and passion, making jackets, sweaters, bags, and more.
Our commitment is to sensitize more and more people to environmental issues, increase awareness of the necessary change, we cannot afford to consume resources continuously.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to the circular economy.
